Privacy Policy for Trenzi
Effective Date: October 22, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Trenzi! We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our social media app, Trenzi.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: We collect your username, password, email, and profile details.
- Date of Birth and Gender: Asked when you sign up. Your date of birth confirms you are old enough to use Trenzi, keeps the app suitable for your age, and lets us wish you a happy birthday. Your age range and gender also help us tailor suggestions and offers. Neither is shown on your profile.
- Content: Includes photos, videos, comments, likes, and other user-generated content.
- Communications: Any inquiries or messages sent to our support team.
- Contacts (only if you allow it): When you use Find friends and allow access to your phone’s contacts, Trenzi reads the phone numbers on your phone and turns each one into a scrambled code (a one-way SHA-256 hash) before anything is sent. We receive and keep only these codes, never your contacts’ names or numbers. We match them against the same codes made from the phone numbers of people on Trenzi. We keep your codes so we can keep suggesting people you know and tell you when one of them joins, and refresh them about once a week while access is on. You can remove them at any time.
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage Data: Your activity on Trenzi: when you open the app and for how long, the screens and features you use, the posts and videos you view and how much of them you watch, what you like, comment on, share, save or skip, profiles you visit, searches, notifications you open, ads you are shown or watch, and listings you view, save or contact sellers about.
- Purchases: Coin, Premium and other in-app purchases, gifts you send, and purchase attempts (for example opening the coin store or a checkout you did not finish). Payment card details are handled by the app stores and payment processors, not by us.
- Device Information: IP address, device make and model, operating system and version, app version, language, time zone and network type (Wi-Fi or mobile), and the country your connection comes from.
- Location Data: Collected with your consent while using Trenzi, for example to show shop listings and people near you. Other people never see your exact location.
- How You Found Trenzi: When you visit our download page or a shared post or listing on trenzi.app, we record the visit, any app-store button you tap, the link or campaign it came from and the referring website. To connect this to your first use of the app we keep a scrambled (salted, one-way hashed) form of your IP address, never the address itself, for up to 45 days. We also record which shared link opened the app.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Social Media Integrations: Info from linked accounts such as contacts or friend lists.
3. How We Use Your Information
3.1 To Provide and Improve Our Services
Friends from your contacts: if you sync your contacts, people from them who are on Trenzi are shown in Find friends, come first in your suggestions, are marked “In your contacts”, get a small lift in your feed, and we may notify you when one of them joins.
- Service Delivery: Account management and app functionality.
- Personalization: Content, video, listing and friend suggestions based on what you watch, like, search for and post. We derive interest keywords from your published posts, comments and searches; we do not store your private messages or anything you type but do not post for this purpose.
- Insights and offers: We combine the information above (including your device type, country, age range if provided, and purchase history) into an internal profile used to understand how Trenzi is used, decide when to send notifications, and tailor in-app offers and promotions. This profile is used only by Trenzi and is never sold. Users under 18 do not receive purchase-based offers.
- Improvement: Feature and user experience enhancements.
3.2 Communication
- Notifications: Activity alerts, feature updates, and news. This includes birthday and Trenzi-anniversary wishes, reminders about things you showed interest in (such as a listing you viewed several times), suggestions for features you have not tried, and what you missed while away. We send these at times you usually use the app and stop types you consistently ignore. You can turn each category off in Notification settings.
- Customer Support: Addressing your inquiries and issues.
3.3 Safety and Security
- Monitoring: Fraud and abuse prevention.
- Enforcement: Terms and policy compliance.
4. Sharing Your Information
4.1 With Other Users
Being found by your phone number: if someone who has your phone number in their contacts uses Find friends, they can see your Trenzi profile in their results, and may be told when you join. Your number itself is never shown. You can turn this off under Settings › Security & privacy › Let people find me by my phone number.
- Public Information: Profile, posts, and interactions are public.
- Direct Messages: Only visible to conversation participants.
4.2 With Third Parties
- Service Providers: Hosting, crash reporting, payment and advertising partners (such as Google AdMob), who process data on our behalf. Our usage analytics and insight profiles are kept on our own servers and are not sold or shared with data brokers.
- Legal Requirements: Disclosures per legal or safety obligations.
5. Your Choices and Rights
5.1 Access and Control
- Profile Settings: Update profile and settings anytime.
- Content Removal: Delete your content.
- Account Deactivation: Option available in settings.
- Notifications: Turn categories of notifications on or off, set quiet hours, or pause them, in Notification settings.
- Ads: On iPhone you choose whether apps may track you for ads (App Tracking Transparency). In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you choose how ads may use your data, and can change it any time under Settings › Ad privacy choices.
- Location: Allow or stop location access in your phone’s settings at any time.
- Contacts: Remove your synced contacts, or stop people finding you by your phone number, under Settings › Security & privacy › Contacts. You can also turn off contacts access in your phone’s settings; Trenzi then stops refreshing them.
5.2 Data Requests
- Access: Request data we store about you.
- Correction: Request corrections to your data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data. Deleting your account removes your usage history and insight profile.
- Retention: Detailed activity records are kept for up to 13 months; summary profiles are kept while your account is active.
6. Data Security
We implement safeguards to protect your data, but no method is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children’s Privacy
Trenzi is not intended for users under 13. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and do not let anyone under 13 create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from children under this age. Users aged 13 to 17 do not receive purchase-based offers.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may revise this policy periodically. Updates will be posted on Trenzi with the revised effective date.
